The Lakes is a small masterplanned community located in the western part of the Las Vegas Valley, a short drive from the strip via city streets. A large man-made lake is the centerpiece of The Lakes. Most of the building at The Lakes took place from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s, but there still is the occasional custom home being constructed on the last of the remaining vacant waterfront lots.
The community is bounded by Sahara Avenue to the North, Durango Drive to the east, Desert Inn Road to the South, and Hualapai Way to the West. Summerlin, Canyon Gate, and Peccole Ranch are other Las Vegas masterplanned communities that are adjacent to The Lakes.
Some of the custom homes at The Lakes and some of the townhomes share lake access and offer such pretty water views, offering a bit of an oasis in the desert.
